AMBUSH x Nike Dunk High
A Korean-American fashion designer, Yoon Ahn has certainly made an impact on streetwear as the creative director of her brand Ambush. In homage to Japan’s bike, car and truck culture, Ahn wanted to make the sneaker look like a “moving thing”. The oversized panelling and the extended Swoosh on the AMBUSH x Nike Dunks make these one of the most coveted releases of the year so far.
Nike Mag
While it was Tinker Hatfield who designed the Nike Mags, Tiffany Beers was the brains which made the design come to life. One of the most influential women in the industry, Beers was the mastermind who created the iconic auto-lacing technology of the sneaker. Limited to 89 pairs, the Nike Mags are one of the most expensive sneakers on the planet.
Sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle
Chitose Abe, the founder and creative director of Sacai, did not disappoint with these. The sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle sold out almost instantly, echoing the response her previous collab with nike, the sacai x Nike LDWaffles, got. With the leather Swoosh printed on the mesh, along with two sets of laces and tongues with subtle branding stating “Nike sacai”, plus the iconic double stacked midsoles and soles, Abe has certainly made her mark in the industry.
Melody Ehsani x Air Jordan 1 Mid Fearless
No woman sneaker collab list is complete without a Melody Ehsani feature. The uniquely designed pair featured a gold watch lace dubrae, a mismatched colourway and a handwritten message that read ““IF YOU KNEW WHAT YOU HAD WAS RARE, YOU WOULD NEVER WASTE IT.”, making these Jordan 1 mids arguably one of the most coveted and eye-catching pairs ever made. A serious grail for collectors, the shoe managed to make sneakerheads put their hate for mids behind them.
COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Air Max 180
Rei Kawakubo, founder of one of the most iconic labels in fashion, worked her CDG magic on the iconic Tinker Hatfield silhouette by using fluorescent pinks worked with black, white and pink to create a set of eye-catching 180s. Made with premium leather and translucent icy air units at the heel, these sneakers have become a must-have collectors pair for all CDG and Nike fans.
