How Far Would You Go To Get The Sneaker Of Your Dreams
The Weeknd once said “Me and my Lamar would rob a n**** for his Jordans, and flip it just to get these hoes another nose fix.” And the world felt it.
Taking sneaker “hype” to the next level, here are a few unfortunate incidents of robbery over a pair of sneakers-
1. When the McDonalds parking lot smelled more of gunpowder and less of burgers and fries. In 2014, a sneaker deal at a McDonald’s parking lot went haywire when two teenagers met with the intention of trading cash for sneakers. A 17-year old boy, who was supposed to be the purchaser, pulled out a handgun at the other teen and robbed him of his sneakers. Sneakers over fries, that’s what they liked
2. This is why you never share your snapchat with dudes./ A deal over snapchat goes awry
In retaliation to a previous shoe deal gone bad, 3 men robbed two men in the state of Massachusetts over three pairs of sneakers- the Travis Scott Air Force Ones, Jordan Space Jams, and Yeezy Belugas. The two victims agreed to meet someone they met on Snapchat to sell some sneakers. What they got instead was a punch in the face, a firearm pointed at them and a total loss of over $2000. Gotta call in the Air Force for this one.
3. If only hypebeasts could afford a Supreme lock system/ Looks like it's time for Supreme to slap its logo across the lock system
Sneaker craze took a dark turn when a resident of a town in Massachusetts, US had his house broken into and his 13-year old sister and grandparents tied up over a bunch of sneakers. The armed robbers pistol-whipped the man and fled with bags full of sneakers from a sneaker collection made up of 100+ pairs, each costing around $200-$300.
4. Here’s your reminder to think twice before meeting a stranger you met on the internet.
A 16 year old was hit with pepper spray by a 22 year old man over a pair of Air Jordan VIs in New Jersey. The man who was supposed to pay the minor $490 bucks for the sneakers decided to go down the hit-and-run road instead and was later charged with
second-degree robbery.
5. Think twice before cutting the line at the next sneaker launch A Foot Locker in Brooklyn, NY had to delay the release of the Nike Air Foamposite Pro ‘Yeezy’ by a few hours after a 15-year old was shot in the foot for cutting the line.
Next time your parents call you crazy for being a sneakerhead, show them what actual crazy looks like.
