Drake Got Beef!

“In hip-hop to be the best, you gotta beat the best”, and Drake took that a little too seriously. Don’t get us wrong, we love the man, but he has had his fair share of beef with other artists over his music career spanning more than a decade. Drake and Kanye recently ignited their long-drawn beef which goes back as far as 2009. But there’s more, Ye’s not the only person Drizzy has had beef with. Here’s a look into the history of Drake’s rap beef- 

Jay Z and Drake 
While Drake and Jay Z’s relationship started off on the right foot with the latter giving Drake a chance to show his lyrical genius when he was only starting out. Drake made a guest feature on Jay Z’s “Off That”, followed by a proper collab on Drake’s “Light Up” which was well-received by fans. However, their relationship erupted into back and forths including public statements and recording subliminal disses aimed at each other following Drake’s verse on DJ Khaled’s “I’m On One” where he said “I’m just feeling like the throne is for the taking—watch me take it”, possibly hinting at Jay Z and Kanye’s album ‘Watch The Throne’. It seems like the two have managed to put their feud behind them as the two were spotted embracing each other and posing for a photo at Jay and Beyonce’s On The Run II Tour in Detroit. 

Chris Brown and Drake
Honestly, we don’t blame Drake for this one. The two started off as friends often working and releasing records together. However, a common link between the two which goes by the name ‘Rihanna’ is believed to be the reason behind the feud. The two were involved in an altercation at a nightclub in New York where a rude note that allegedly read “I’m f**k**g the love of your life” resulted in liquor bottles being tossed at each other. Damn, Riri. However, it seems like this feud too has died down as the duo are back to working together.

Kendrick Lamar and Drake
Almost like all other rap feuds Drake has had, the relationship didn’t start out as rocky as it ended up becoming. It all went downhill went Kendrick went all out on his verse on Big Sean’s ‘Control’ calling out a couple of artists including Drake, which, of course, fairly pissed him off. This resulted in Drake discussing K.Dot’s ‘Control’ verse on an interview with Billboard, a few disses aimed at each other, Drake calling Lamar a “King” during the OVO fest and Kendrick rejecting Drake’s move by going off at him on Jay Rock’s single “Pay For It”. Unfortunately, the feud didn’t end there and the two continued to take shots at each other. 

P. Diddy and Drake
This one is unlike the other feuds Drake has had. Not limited to disses aimed at each other, the beef between P. Diddy and Drake was rather physical. It started in 2014 when a fight erupted between the two at DJ Khaled’s party which reportedly sent Drake straight to the hospital with a dislocated shoulder. Later in the same year, a video that went viral in which Puff Daddy can be seen calling out Drake for “stealing” the beat to “0-100” further added fuel to the fire. Following Drake’s release of “4PM in Calabasas”, a few public comments, and the time when P. Diddy accepted Drake’s award on his behalf at 2016 VMAs claiming that the latter was “stuck in traffic”, Drake and P. Diddy apparently buried the hatchet with a phone call 

Meek Mill and Drake
It all started with a tweet by Meek Mill which read “Stop comparing Drake to me too... He don't write his own raps!" The beef, however, wasn’t limited to the two of them with many others including Lupe Fiasco, Drake’s producer 40, Drake’s then-girlfriend Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown and a few others chiming in. The two released several disses aimed at each other including Drake’s freestyle “Back To Back”, Drake and Future’s mixtape ‘What a Time To Be Alive’ which saw numerous obvious and subliminal digs at Meek Mill and, finally, Meek Mill’s 4/4 EP in which he responded to both Drake and Future. However, the two managed to squash their beef after Meek Mill joined Drizzy onstage in Boston.
