With 4 Grammy Awards, ‘Artist of the Decade’ Billboard Music Award, and a couple of other awards plus a few records that were broken here and there, it isn’t surprising to know that the extremely talented artist also has extremely expensive taste. While we’ve already seen enough of his mansion (courtesy: toosie slide) and heard enough about Air Drake, have you ever wondered what sneakers a man like Drake must be rocking? With Certified Lover Boy dropping today, we found it fitting to do an inventory of Drake’s sneaker collection. Here are the most noteworthy pairs the rapper owns:
Air Jordan 10s but make it solid gold
Drake said, “Jumpmanx3, f*ck was you expecting?” Well, definitely not sneakers made of gold that, of course, are not even wearable. The first sneaker on the list obviously had to be the solid gold Air Jordan 10s on which Drake spent a casual $2 million. Weighing around 100 pounds, the sneakers are designed by artist Matthew Senna and are sadly one of a kind.
Travis Scott x Air Jordan 4 (Friends and Family)
Jealous, but not surprised. Yet another unattainable pair in Drake’s collection is the Travis Scott Jordan 4s F&F edition. The sneaker, with purple nubuck upper and grey and black detailing, was exclusively made for Scott’s friends and family and limited to only about 1000 pairs. Of course, if you’re Drake, if anyone can have it, he doesn’t want it.
Air Jordan Retro 4 “Multicolor”
Another rare sneaker from Drake’s collection is the unreleased Air Jordan 4 “Splatter” or “Multicolor”. Originally an unreleased sample from 1989, the sneaker’s standout feature is the unique white and red splatter combination on the midsole and heel representing Chicago Bulls and a gold OVO owl logo behind the heel tab. The sneakers, which were first teased back in 2017, were never actually released due to Nike and Drake’s relationship reportedly ending back then. (They’re back on track now, don’t worry.)
An Insane Kobe Sneaker Collection
On Kobe Day last year, Drake showed us his impressive Kobe Sneaker Collection and it seems like the man owns every shoe he could possibly get his hands on. The glimpse of his collection included a special playoff version of the Kobe 7 Elite which you might remember from the ‘Laugh Now, Cry Later’ music video and the UNDEFEATED X Nike Zoom Kobe Protro 1 Friends and Family version. Fun fact- the F&F edition was made available to customers after making a purchase at the UNDEFEATED Meiji-Dori store. But what makes the fact fun is that they also had to win a basketball competition to be
able to win 1 of the 10 available pairs. Other notable pairs from his Kobe collection are the Aston Martin Kobe 5, NBA Final Kobe 4s, Venice Beach Kobe 8s and the Moonwalker Kobe 9s. Phew! Drizzy making us dizzy with the Kobe drip.
Nike Air Jordan XI Retro OVO Snakeskin
Yet another unreleased pair, sigh. These sneakers were first teased by Drake at a Raptors game back in 2017. The exclusive samples featured two colourways, “Pink” and “Grey”. While the low versions of the snakeskin Jordan XIs were made available to the public, the high tops were never released. The sneaker has a white upper with pink snakeskin leather with a “45” embroidered on the heel marking Jordan’s comeback during the 1995 season. Now we know why Drake said “I don’t cop things for resale” on his track ‘War’, probably because the man already owns all these unreleased beauties.
The usual hypebeast starter-kit sneakers
Of course, no celebrity’s sneaker collection is complete without the usual hypebeast essentials. We’re talking the Air Jordan x Dior Highs, the Off White x Air Jordan 5s and the Supreme AF1s, to name a few. *Yawn* Drake, we expected more drip from you. Anyway, scroll up to remember sneaker #1 and now we are back to being impressed.
Now we know when Drake said “I'm Nike'd down in a motherf*****n' snake pit”, he wasn’t lying.
